Game Details

The Game is divided in 2 phases:

1. PHASE 1 - 9 rounds relative to preliminary round matches
2. FINAL PHASE - 3 rounds relative to direct qualification matches

CREATE A TEAM

Each user can enter only one fantateam to the Game. When creating the Fantateam, the user also needs to select the Group his team will compete in.

It is possible to create a team also after the Game has started, but only during the first phase. Of course the team will start with no points and will anyway have to qualify among the top teams of the Group in order to pass to the next Round.

How to play

The Fantamanager simply needs to select a team for each fantaround, and he will score the same result of the team selected.

The games will be divided in the following way. Hours are in Central Europe Time (CET).

• Deadlines Day 1 they refer to the first day
• Deadlines Day 2 they refers to the second day
• Deadlines Day 3 it refers to the third day
• Deadline Quarters it refers to all Quarters of Final matches
• Deadline Semifinals it refers to both Semifinal matches
• Deadline Final it refers to both Finals, Gold medal and Bronze medal matches

The only rule in the team selection is the following: the same team cannot be chosen more than once for the duration of Phase 1.

The choices made in Phase 1 will not have any impact on those to be made in the following phase

PHASE 1 RANKING

For each round each Fantateam is assigned the score of the team selected, both in terms of win, tie or loss, as well as for goals scored and conceded.

At the end of the First Phase, the top 2 teams in each Group will gain access to the following phase.

The final ranking for the First Phase will be based on the following criteria:

1. Total points
2. Number of valid selections
3. Goals difference
4. Total goals scored
5. Z factor (i.e. last match result, see below)

Z factor - The result in the last game will be considered the final criteria in case of equal rankings; the team that will prevail will be that with the best result in the last game, and, should it be the same, the team that has made the choice earlier.

FINAL PHASE – DIRECT QUALIFICATION ROUNDS

A draw will be available after the end of the first phase, and the Fantateams will face each other in direct elimination matches.

The draw will be made selecting the teams based on the First Phase ranking as per below.
1st Group A - 2nd Group B
1st Group C - 2nd Group D
1st Group B - 2nd Group A
1st Group D - 2nd Group C

During this phase each team needs to select 2 teams for each match: BASE TEAM and ETRA TEAM.

For each round, the fantamanager can selected among those teams still running for a medal spot, therefore the consolation rounds will not represent valid choices for our game.

Also in this phase we have the following rule: each team can be selected only once in the same role for all direct qualification matches.

IThe reasult of each Fantateam will be calculated as follows:

1. NUMBER OF GOALS SCORED by the team chosen as BASE TEAM
2. +/- the GOAL DIFFERENCE related to the team chosen as EXTRA TEAM
3. SUM TOTAL will be first reported to a non-negative value by giving an identical bonus value to both fantateams
4. finally the obtained SUM TOTAL will be HALVED. The result will be rounded up for the fantateam having the higher sum total. It will be rounded down for the fantateam having the lower sum total (including the case both fantateams have same sum total).

The result to be considered, both for the BASE and the EXTRA teams, will be that at the end of the regular periods, thus excluding any overtime.

Should there be a tie, an EXTRA GOAL is assigned to the Fantateam that selected the BASE team with the best result achieved before overtime (or, in case of another tie, after overtime or penalty shootouts).

Should there still be a tie, the EXTRA GOAL will go to the team with the best score in PHASE 1. The criteria to be used to calculate the score will be the same used for the Phase 1 Ranking calculations.

The 4 teams that will enter the Finals, will be allowed to choose also among the real teams that will battle for the bronze medal.

EXCEPTIONS

During Phase 1:

When a Fantateam does not make a selection for a game of the First Phase, no result nor points will be assigned to that team.

During Direct Qualification Phase.

Only for the Quarter-Finals phase we have set a Repechage mechanism, in order to eliminate those Fantateams without valid choices in the subject round. The repechage will be decided after the game deadline has passed and will have the following rules: For every Group we check whether the QUALIFIED teams have a valid choice in ranking order; each fantateam with no valid choices will be replaced by the best FANTATEAM in the same GROUP among those not qualified and with valid choices. We therefore invite all the best teams in each Group, even if not qualified, to make valid choices for the Quarter-Finals.

When a Fantateam does not make a selection for the BASE and/or the EXTRA TEAM in the semifinals or finals, the Fantateam will score 0 goals for the missing BASE choice, and the worst goal difference result of those in the round for the EXTRA choice (before overtime).

GAME WINNER

The Fantateam that will win the Final will be the Winner of the Game and will win a Gold medal.
