Introduction

Fantasy game based on the American football results of the National Football League.

Game details

The game is played in 21 rounds, divided in 2 phases

• PHASE 1 – 17 rounds of Regular Season

  For each round the player will have to select a team playing home and a team playing away

• FINAL PHASE - 4 playoff rounds
  • Conference Quarters
  • Conference Semi-finals
  • Conference finals
  • Superbowl

Create a team

Each user can enter only one fantateam to the Game. When creating the Fantateam, the user also needs to select the Conference, AFC or NFC, his team will compete in.

If you already have a fantateam enrolled in the previous season you are allowed to cancel or keep it.

You can only cancel a fantateam before choosing for any round. Once you made the first choice your fantateam will be considered confirmed.

It is possible to create a team also after the Game has started, but only during the Regular Season. Of course the team will start with no points and will anyway have to qualify among the top 8 teams of the Conference in order to pass to the next PHASE (see below).

Regular Season

The Fantamanager needs to select a team and he will score the same result of the team selected to climb his Conference standings.

The user can select any team playing with the following limitation:

The same team cannot be chosen more than once HOME and more than once AWAY for the duration of PHASE 1 (The regular season)

The choices made during the regular season will not have any impact on those to be made in the following phase.

Conference ranking

For each round each Fantateam is assigned the score of the team selected, both in terms of win, tie or loss, as well as for points scored and conceded.

At the end of the Regular Season, the top 8 teams in each Conference will gain access to the play-off phase.

The final ranking for the First Phase will be based according to the following criteria:

1. Total wins
2. Total draws
3. Total correct choices made
4. Points difference
5. Z factor (see below)

Z factor - The result in the last game (Week 17- Away) will be considered the final criteria in case of equal rankings; the team that will prevail will be that with the best result in the last game, and, should it be the same, the team that has made the choice earlier.

Playoff and superbowl

A draw will be available after the end of the Regular Season, and the Fantateams will face each other in direct elimination matches.

The draw will be made selecting the teams starting from the Quarterfinal Conference based on the First Phase ranking. It will be the same selection as a tennis draw with seeds.

In each match the fantamanager with the best relative ranking will play HOME. Superbowl is the exception as it is played in neutral ground.

During this phase each team needs to select 2 teams for each match: BASE TEAM and ETRA TEAM.

Also in this phase we have the following rule: each team can be selected only once in the same role for all direct qualification matches. The Superbowl is again an exception (see below).

The result of each Fantateam will be calculated as follows:

• NUMBER OF POINTS SCORED by the team chosen as BASE TEAM
• +/- the POINT DIFFERENCE related to the team chosen as EXTRA TEAM
• +/- the POINT DIFFERENCE related to the team chosen as EXTRA TEAM

If the score is not realistic (in football you can score 0, 3 and any score from 6 onwards) the score will be rounded up.

Should there be a tie, 3 POINTS EXTRA are awarded to the Fantateam with the best score in PHASE 1. He will be an extra-time winner.

The winners of the CONFERENCE FINAL will face each other in the SUPERBOWL (see below).

SUPERBOWL

The Conference final winner will be allowed to choose a TEAM already selected in the previous play-off matches with the following handicap:

A CHOICE that has already been used in the previous rounds will cause a reduction of the score of 10 points. The same penalty will apply to both the base team and extra team.

The score of the BASE TEAM and EXTRA TEAM will include also points scored or conceded during overtime and it will be therefore the final score.

Special situations

In case a match has been suspended or postponed the result will be suspended until the game has been completed.

During regular season

In the event that the fantamanager didn’t select any team or selected a team not playing in that week the fantateam will not receive any score.

During play-off

When a Fantateam does not make a selection for the BASE and/or the EXTRA TEAM the Fantateam will score the worst results of that round (both in terms of points realized by the HOME TEAM and point difference for the EXTRA TEAM).

Repechage during play-off phase

Only for the Conference Quarter-Finals we have set a Repechage mechanism, in order to eliminate those Fantateams without valid choices in the subject round. The repechage will be decided after the game deadline has passed and will have the following rules: For every Group we check whether the QUALIFIED teams have a valid choice in ranking order; each fantateam with no valid choices will be replaced by the best FANTATEAM in the same GROUP among those not qualified and with valid choices. The rule only apply for team ranked 9th to 12th who will be allowed to make a selection for the playoff.

Winner

The winner of the SUPERBOWL will be the Winner of the Game
